Healthy diet

When you’re pregnant, it’s wise to pay more attention to your diet. Most important is that your diet is varied, healthy diet. Eating fresh vegetables and fruits every day will make sure you get enough vitamins, fibers and minerals, and will make using vitamin supplements redundant. Meat, chicken, eggs, milk, cheese and fish contain calcium and proteins. Rice, pasta, whole meal bread and potatoes contain a lot of carbohydrates which provide your body with energy. Butter and margarine contain vitamins A and D. Our advice is to eat something from these listed groups of food for every meal – that way you are sure to eat varied and healthily. It is also important to drink more than enough water during pregnancy. We advise to drink two liters of water (or similar) every day to promote the function of your kidneys and intestines.

In case you feel like you’re not getting your required vitamins from your diet, because, for instance, you’re vomiting a lot, use the VITAMINECHECK. You can also, under advisement of a doctor or midwife, choose to start taking vitamin supplements. Please note that you take supplements especially for pregnant women.

If you feel weak and dizzy during pregnancy and your blood tests have all been as normal, you could try using Floradix. This is an herbal potion that contain vitamins, minerals and extra iron. It’s available at the chemist. You could also try taking extra vitamin C, which does not cause any problems. This vitamin will improve your immune system and will help your body better absorb iron. Moreover, it will cause urine to become sourer, which decreases the chance of a urine tract infection.

We advise to start taking extra vitamin D (10 micrograms per day) at 16 weeks. Research has indicated that 30 to 70% of pregnant women has too little vitamin D in her body.
